After a quick trip to LA to get her hair done, see grandkids and get our Starlink dish, Fiona will be returning to Tahiti about 9 tonight.
I have spent the past few days doing boat projects. These projects invariably make a bit of a mess on the boat which presents me with a dilemma. How much cleaning do I do prior to her arrival?
The fact is, no matter how much I clean, Fiona will start her cleaning routine as soon as she gets on the boat. She may wait until tomorrow morning but will probably decide that she can’t sleep until she’s done her routine so she will do it tonight.
If I don’t clean at all she won’t be happy with me, and I wouldn’t blame her. If I spend the whole day cleaning it still won’t be up to her standards so there’s no point in doing that.
The answer is to clean just enough to make it look like I put in a good effort. Any more than that is just wasted energy. Like many things in life, it’s all about finding a balance.

Isn’t that similar to washing your car before it rains ?

I love this post … so spot on and could have been written by Chris except he would have probably decided to do the absolute minimum he could get away with!
